Performance engineering at its finest. As the world becomes more decidedly digital, the demand for apps has skyrocketed like never before. " There's an app for that " is not just a popular saying. It is an accurate depiction of how people live their lives.
Because we know that all people with battery-powered devices are constantly concerned about their battery levels, and that websites are significant consumers of that battery power, we should probably think about this stuff a lot more than we do. I'd expect the browser itself to be our main ally here, doing smart things to reduce power consumption without us developers needing to think too much about it.
Many database administrators find themselves having to support instances of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), or at least the backend databases that are required for SSRS. For years SSRS was bundled with the installation of SQL Server, which helped add to some of the confusion around licensing and support for the product, so beginning with SSRS 2017, the installation package for Reporting Services is a separate download.
PostgreSQL graphical user interface (GUI) tools help these open source database users to manage, manipulate, and visualize their data. In this post, we discuss the top 5 GUI tools for administering your PostgreSQL deployments. Dynatrace news. The path to Autonomous Cloud Management (ACM) and NoOps is a transformational journey that reaches all parts of an organization. It fundamentally changes how teams and tools work together with a common goal: deliver software faster, more frequently and with a higher degree of quality. Dynatrace news. Welcome back to the blog series in which we show how you can easily solve three common problem scenarios by using Dynatrace and xMatters Flow Designer. Here’s what we discussed so far: In Part 1 we explored how DevOps teams can prevent a process crash from taking down services across an organization. In Part 2 we looked at how you can set up an automated response to full disk errors and thereby prevent your services from going down.
Soon your automation will be running at top speed! When it comes to automated website testing, one extremely important parameter is the intellect gathered from the output of your automation test execution i.e. the number of bugs reported, percentage of pass/failed test cases, test coverage, etc. If there are frequent releases in your project, the throughput achieved via testing can be adversely affected if the tests are performed frequently.
In our previous blog posts, we discussed the capabilities and functioning of PostgreSQL Automatic Failover (PAF) by Cluster Labs and Replication Manager (repmgr) by 2ndQuadrant. In the final post of this series, we will review the last solution, Patroni by Zalando, and compare all three at the end so you can determine which high availability framework is best for your PostgreSQL hosting deployment.

Another activity that requires strategy. Regression Testing. Regression testing is a process that continues throughout the life cycle of an application. When we talk about regression testing, our vision should ideally be focused on the long term goals that take into account the various aspects of software application sustenance. Each time a new feature is developed, existing feature improved or any UI updates made, there is a need to perform a regression test to ensure that the changes do not im

In most languages, you have to start your application in order to respond to a client request; whereas, with PHP, you have a simple “.php” file that sits quietly until it is invoked by a top-level web server like Nginx+PHP-FPM or Apache mod_php.

The Bifurcation of Security. In recent years, we’re seeing a clear split within the security community. There’s the “traditional” enterprise security focused on auditable controls, segregation of duties, approvals, change management, etc. These traditional controls are well-aligned with the waterfall model, but when applied to Agile software delivery organizations, a disaster inevitably occurs.
Arranging the playing cards in a deck to be in one's favor is called "stacking the deck." Outside of card playing, people use the term more generally to mean arranging a situation to increase your chances of a favorable outcome.

Digital transformations typically demand major shifts in thinking, processes and behavior across the organization. It’s rarely, if ever, easy – especially when it comes to scaling and sustaining the transformation. Inevitably there will be a cultural shift, especially when you consider all the moving parts: the software delivery teams, the product owners, the multiple business lines.
Regression testing should be shared, either within the delivery team as a whole or between development and QA. But in too many companies, this testing is still seen as primarily QA’s problem.
In the last few years there have been several examples of major service problems affecting businesses data: outages causing data inconsistencies; unavailability or data loss, and worldwide cyberattacks encrypting your files and asking for a ransom. Database-related incidents are a very common industry issue- even if the root cause is not the database system itself.
Choosing whether Angular, Vue or React is a popular debate between project owners and tech CTOs. However, the choice of a framework largely depends on timeline, project size and team size.
