I summarized these topics and more as a plenary conference talk, including my own predictions (as a senior performance engineer) for the future of computing performance, with a focus on back-end servers. Ford, et al., “TCP
This enables customers to serve content to their end users with low latency, giving them the best application experience. In 2011, AWS opened a Point of Presence (PoP) in Stockholm to enable customers to serve content to their end users with low latency. AWS was crucial to the successful launch of WOW air’s U.S.
By Werner Vogels on 14 December 2011 07:00 PM. This new Region has been highly requested by companies worldwide, and it provides low-latency access to AWS services for those who target customers in South America. No Server Required - Jekyll & Amazon S3. Introducing the AWS South America (Sao Paulo) Region. Comments ().
About 5 years ago, I introduced you to AWS Availability Zones, which are distinct locations within a Region that are engineered to be insulated from failures in other Availability Zones and provide inexpensive, low latency network connectivity to other Availability Zones in the same region.
By Werner Vogels on 01 March 2011 10:00 PM. Japanese companies and consumers have become used to low latency and high-speed networking available between their businesses, residences, and mobile devices. No Server Required - Jekyll & Amazon S3. Expanding the Cloud - Introducing the AWS Asia Pacific (Tokyo) Region. Comments ().
My personal opinion is that I don't see a widespread need for more capacity given horizontal scaling and servers that can already exceed 1 Tbyte of DRAM; bandwidth is also helpful, but I'd be concerned about the increased latency for adding a hop to more memory. Ford, et al., “TCP
By Werner Vogels on 11 July 2011 07:22 AM. As a part of that process, we also realized that there were a number of latency sensitive or location specific use cases like Hadoop, HPC, and testing that would be ideal for Spot. No Server Required - Jekyll & Amazon S3. All Things Distributed. Spot Instances - Increased Control.
By Werner Vogels on 16 August 2011 06:40 AM. There are different considerations when deciding where to allocate resources with latency and cost being the two obvious ones, but compliance sometimes plays an important role as well. No Server Required - Jekyll & Amazon S3. All Things Distributed. Comments ().

If those specs sound eerily familiar, it's perhaps because they're identical to 2016's $200USD Moto G4 , all the way down to the 2011-vintage 28nm SoC process node used to fab the chip's anemic, 2012-vintage A53 cores. Sadly, data on latency is harder to get, even from Google's perch, so progress there is somewhat more difficult to judge.
If you put your whole website on CDN, technically you don’t need a large number of server infrastructure and CMS licenses. Using CDN for the whole website, you can offload most of the website traffic to your CDN which will handle not only large traffic spikes but also reduce the latency of content delivery.
If performance is a problem, we can do progressive enhancement through Server-Side Rendering. I can count on one hand the number of teams I’ve worked with who have goals that allow them to block launches for latency regressions, including Google products. Because we can iterate faster we’re delivering better experiences.
During the logical backups, using client API, the data gets read from the server and returned back to the same API, which will be serialized and written into respective “ bson”, “ json” or “ csv” backup files on disk depending upon the type of backup utilities used. mongodump --host=mongodb1.example.net
Content negotiation allows the server to serve different resource formats based on what is supported by the browser. CDN servers are often located closer to users than origin servers and can have a shorter round-trip times (RTT), improving network latency. Large preview ).
